Soil of Transition: October Earth‑Element Magic & Tarot Insight

By October 1, 2025November 5th, 2025No Comments

October presses against us just like darkness leans heavier into the daylight hours this time of year, notably limiting the moments to enjoy bright outdoor meanderings.

Silhouette of a person in a foggy fall forest on a sunlit path with their shadow cast on the ground in front of them. Text reads "Have you shaken your shadow's hand recently?" with a watermark that reads "@ITBC_MagicInAction" Mood is contemplative.

Well… have you?

Consequently, it’s a rich time for reaching out and meeting our shadow as it lengthens alongside us a little earlier each evening….

How long does your shadow seem to you this season around?

And, have you shaken your shadow’s hand recently?

Are you willing to come face-to-face with your own spooky self, all for the sake of lasting self-love and authentic transformation?

Just like the sabbat Samhain celebrated at the end of the month, the title ‘October’ offers echoes of ancient times past.

Originally the eighth month of the ten-month Roman calendar, octo- is the root of the modern word, however when January and February were eventually added to create the twelve-month calendar we know and commonly use today, the name was never updated to reflect its new tenth position.

So in other words, its outdated label was never replaced.

In your day-to-day life, what is something that once was fitting for you but now seems somewhat out of place, outdated, or otherwise misnamed?

How can you see your specific thing from a different perspective to better accept and appreciate its vintage nature, or to re-work it to better reflect your current phase of expression?

Recognize, appreciate, and soak in the glow of your own authentic magic!

A Fire of Fulfillment

We see the Full Moon on October 6th lighting up the sky from the sign of Aries, which offers us a light and fiery final phase as balance to its heavy and earthy beginnings in Virgo last month.

This moon ignites your hunger for action and freedom, but it wants to know:

Can you consciously channel that Fire without burning yourself out?

What practical steps did you take in the past weeks to ensure your Full Moon could be full of celebration?

What can you do right here and now to recognize, appreciate, and soak in the pure glow of the equation: you = magic ?

Sherbet-colored autumn sunset with almost-bare trees, a dark flock of birds flying, and a bright full moon high in the sky, with the wording, "On this full moon, allow your wisdom to surprise you.

Give yourself permission to be wise, and give your wisdom space to grow.

The Tulalip tribes of Washington State refer to October’s Full Moon as “pədxʷit̕xʷit̕il”, meaning “the time of falling leaves”… what do you see in your life right now as falling into place, even if the transition may feel like a flurry of chaos?

What actions can you take to make this phase and the next landing a bit softer?

How can you fulfill those actions as offerings to your current self and inner child?

She deserves it.

Take some time with your hand on your heart space and just sit with your inner child. Speak these questions directly to her and then listen for her response, no matter how long it takes.

She will surprise you with her wonder and wisdom.

A Fresh Breath of Justice

A pile of traditional Raider-Waite style tarot cards, featuring the major arcana Justice card on top prominently, with a text box that reads, "Are you craving more personal Justice in your daily life?"

Your Magic In Action will transform the world.

October 21st, 2025, we experience a New Moon.

We see this new phase sprout up in the sign of Libra, where we’re offered a breath of fresh Air and an infusion of justice-flavored inspiration.

Your Magic In Action will transform the world.

Where do you crave a sense of personal Justice in your daily life?

What tangible things do you need to feel satisfied and fully satiated in that area?

How much time will you dedicate to it, to feed on Justice until the sense of satiety?

When will you permit yourself to actually start tasting and savoring it?

How can you help others to truly experience the same?

Try out a ten-minute meditation on these questions, making sure to take deep and steady breaths. If it calls to you, practice it in a dim room with or without a lit candle and a Justice tarot card. At the end of your contemplation session, what do you know to be true and what now feels curiously challenged?

Write down whatever flows through for your own milestone reference.

If you’re inspired to lengthen your reflection session, go deeper with the following Justice for your Human Appetites 5×7 Journal Exercise. And if you need to come back to these seven questions at a later time please do, and be gentle with yourself in the meantime.

A blank journal is open to fresh pages with a white ballpoint pen resting in the crack of the binding. A jar candle burns above the journal to the left, and behind that is large dark green and orange autumnal plant. The words "Gift yourself liberation within these pages" is written, along with the creator signature "@ITBC_MagicInAction". The mood is calm, cozy, and reflective.

When was the last time you expressed yourself through writing?
